30th Anniversary Interview with the ABBRA

Founded in 1943, ABBRA advocates on behalf of boat building, refit, repair and service businesses in the United States and beyond. They are dedicated to the continuous growth and improvement of the recreational marine industry through programming such as professional development, training and education, and sharing knowledge in the search for solutions to common problems. For 30 years, the ABBRA has brought valuable insight and workforce development tactics to IBEX. They recently shared with us some of their own new educational opportunities and what they’re looking forward to at IBEX 2021.

What significant product developments have you made over the last 30 years?

Two training courses: Marine Service Manager Course and Step Up to Supervisor Course.

What effect has IBEX had on your business?

IBEX is a great place for us to see old members and obtain new ones.  It also allows the industry to learn more about the educational programs that have been a big success at ABBRA. Through our participation in seminars we are able to learn more about the needs of our members..

What are you looking forward to at IBEX 2021?

We are hosting a boatyard roundtable discussion focusing on operations and workforce development. The panel will be led by employees from MarineMax, Hinckley, and Safe Harbors.
