Supply Chain Management is not a specialty any longer, but instead an Ecosystem Strategy ensuring the competitive advantage. In the last year, the global supply chain consistently made news and social media headlines and the marine industry is keenly aware of management and logistical issues. Now we look ahead to resilience stories on ensuring a certain normalcy, being the center of trade war conversations, and how government executive orders impact us.

Recent events, demographic and environmental changes, and continued volatility have shaken long lasting supply principles, raising the following questions:

  • Is global sourcing into low-cost countries the best scenario?
  • How to deal with costly, insufficient shipping?
  • Is supply consolidation upstream, and in manufacturing, becoming too risky?
  • How to anticipate disruption events and proactively plan using data analytics?
  • How to serve increasingly demanding manufacturers?

These, and many other questions, are at the center of many supply chain policy and management debates taking place on a global scale today. We will discuss these questions and approach supply chain impacts and best practices in the context of the marine industry.
